Coaching recognizes that a client's potential is realized by optimizing their own individuality, strengths and uniqueness, never by molding them to another's opinion. Coaching is a creative process that inspires us to maximize our personal and professional potential.
The coaching experience is designed to consolidate thinking and move a client from where they are now to where they want to be in the least amount of time. This is a tremendous benefit considering that “time” is one of our most valuable resources.
More Synergy: with the focused energies of client and coach, clients will accomplish more, sooner. More Structure: definable, measurable and meaningful goals are set by the client with the coach holding the client accountable for the desired results. More Expertise: there are two experts working together towards the stated goal of the client, the client who is the expert of their life, business and career and the coach who is the expert of the Coaching Process.
This will vary on the client's progress, however, at a minimum it is recommend to maintain the coaching partnership for at least 3 months to create the necessary momentum. There is no maximum time, as long as results are being created, Coaching can continue.
Three key factors distinguish Coaching from other similar or related professions. Firstly coaching recognizes that all the answers reside within you. And a coach does not require any particular knowledge about your profession, business or industry. This distinguishes coaching from say an “advisor or consultant” from whom you might expect to get answers from and who generally comes from a related business background.
Secondly, Coaching is as much about becoming aware of who you are, as it is about what you want to achieve. Focusing on “who you are” allows you to clearly define your uniqueness and distinguishes coaching from say a “mentor” or someone you may be wishing to emulate.
Thirdly, Coaching is focused on future possibilities. By acknowledging the present and working with facts, coaching supports what you really want most of all in the “future”. A coach doesn't work on issues and doesn't get into the past. This distinguishes coaching from say a “counselor or a therapist” who may be focusing on resolving past issues.
